I love books! I love reading them, looking at them, altering them, making them. There is a little part of me that wishes we didn’t have “book technology” (you know ibooks, kindle books etc etc) but it’s not the part that is grateful that people are sending their preloved books to the charity shops for a quick declutter. Continue reading “Altered books”
After a flurry of creative activity throughout the summer holidays things have slowed down considerably. My creativity has needed to be focussed on school lessons. It’s not bad just a different creative. I do really enjoy planning and preparing lessons – dreaming up arty possibilities for my students. The best thing is though, I began some creative pursuits that have followed me into the new year without too much effort.
One of those is the International Post Card Swap version 5 .
Another creative adventure I have been on this summer holidays is the Documented life project. I found out about it through following the blog of one of the ladies who has started this project. It captured my attention because it combines calendar, journal and sketchbook all in one and it was designed around a Moleskine. And I love all those things! I do usually carry … Continue reading Creative adventures – Documented life project
Just before New Years I decided I needed a new journal for the new year. As I love booking making and all things artist’s books I decided I would make my journal for 2014. There was also no way I was going to the shops between Christmas and New Year’s Eve so I really had to make my own. (I love a sale as much … Continue reading Creative adventures – art journals
My aim this year was to use up all the pages in my art journal. And I just about made it. I think there are 2 pages left. That’s a pretty good effort I reckon. Here’s few snapshots of some favourite pages from the year: There is a bit of a theme – circles and bright colours. Random scribbling and exploring creativity. I’m thinking this … Continue reading Creative adventures – 2013 Art journals
Yes, it is stating the obvious – it is a new year. And I am so glad. I am really looking forward to this year. It has started very creatively. Which is so fulfilling. Every creative thing I have done in the last few weeks has me prompted to get back to my little blog. “Dear Artyjenniep, I am so sorry I have neglected you!” … Continue reading A new year and creative adventures
A few weeks ago I came across this beautiful book about art journaling. I have been browsing though it on and off today and thought why not share it here on my blog? “The decorated journal” by Gwen Diehn. It doesn’t appear to be a new book but it was only published in 2005. It covers many different aspects of visual journaling including materials, techniques … Continue reading Art journaling
This art journal is made up of old artworks that didn’t seem to be working, scrap papers, blotting paper and other such things. The page I decided to work on was originally one of those artworks…I made it using artist ink, oil pastels and liquid pencil. I quite like the resist process between the ink and the pastel. I began this page with a scraping … Continue reading Recycled art journal page
This week has been full of interesting things. On a world scale, things that shock and stun and leave one feeling almost helpless. On a personal level there have been some disappointing happenings and some of us in our family being ill. And it just seems to be dragging on forever. Sometimes I’m not sure how to deal with these things but I think most … Continue reading Happy colours are as good as putting on good music.
I know it’s May and Daisy Yellow’s link love project was for April, but I felt that because I had only one link love post in April I ought to do one for May. ( And then I discovered Tammy is continuing her mission through May – Hooray!) After all there are so many inspiring Artists and Crafts people blogging their creative life, who willingly share thoughts and ideas – why not keep the creative circle going?!
